With the city guard framing the investigation as a contest of speed, the party pursued their own line of inquiry. A formal records request was filed at the town hall for public information on recently deceased or murdered elves linked to the case, with a fee paid and a 24-hour turnaround promised. While Whisper canvassed her contacts, the others moved to the library and hall of history to research the copied list of names. There they traced the victims to a cohort of ancient elves who survived the fall of Molaesmyr by morally questionable means and were said to have drawn a long shadow of vengeance in their wake. From this, the group advanced a working theory: the killer is a banshee—one of those left behind—now hunting the survivors who fled and later settled in Uthodurn. Two additional historical names were identified as probable future targets; locating their present addresses would have to wait until morning. As night fell, Koro took to the streets on a cautious patrol, while the others prepared to follow up on their leads at first light.
