Objection!

11th of Duscar, 835 PD

In the wake of the banshee’s defeat and the guard captain’s charges, the group spent the morning at an elven-run administrative office in Uthodurn. They filed to contest the reprimand and the reduced bounty, retained a local solicitor, and prepared sworn statements; the rest of the day passed in waiting.

The petition succeeded: the party was cleared of all charges. The authorities acknowledged the captain’s conduct and adjusted the bounty to an “appropriate” sum, striking the punitive skimming that had been added to their slip. The elf the party had protected then offered thanks in the form of an heirloom—a weathered map of Molaesmyr found among their late father’s effects—linking the current murders to the older flight from that fallen city. With the banshee matter closed, Marcus pressed to refocus on the mithril dagger thread: he argued against destroying a potent artifact on principle until its nature and options were understood, even if its history proved dark. Acting on that, the group turned to the city’s rumor-mill and their quieter contacts to trace the female elf now believed to hold the dagger, leaning on underworld connections to start pulling at that thread.
