After taking some time to savor Jigow's vibrant atmosphere, the party eagerly awaited the local Festival of Merit. As crowds gathered along the riverbanks, anticipation grew for the main event: a spirited competition to retrieve a sacred stick hurled into the waters by a priestess amid jubilant drumming and cheers.

Koro and Whisper joined the lively competition, initially unaware of the peculiar local tradition of participants suddenly shedding their clothes. Caught off guard but unfazed, Koro shrugged and swiftly embraced the moment, following suit without hesitation. However, her enthusiasm was quickly cut short by an unfortunate collision with an energetic goblin competitor, resulting in an impressive faceplant and abruptly ending her chances.

Whisper, despite her instinctive aversion to water, bravely sprinted forward atop the river's surface using her magical ring of water walking. Exhibiting her incredible agility and monk training, the tabaxi easily outpaced her competitors. Yet, as the stick plunged beneath the waves, Whisper confronted her greatest foe—her fear of submersion. Mustering her courage, she removed the ring and dove beneath the surface. Alas, her bravery was thwarted by an inability to swim, forcing her to quickly resurface empty-handed. Swiftly replacing the ring, Whisper stumbled from the water with an awkward yet impressive display of magic-induced dexterity, but her brief hesitation allowed another competitor to claim victory.

The festival concluded in good spirits, leaving the adventurers both amused and humbled as they turned their attention westward, eager for the mysteries awaiting them next.
