Why is there a dragon in Hupperdook?

7th Sydenstar, 835 PD

The session began with the party in Hupperdook. While Rico chose to spend another night with his neighbor, the others stayed close by. Reeves, ever the disciplined soldier, retired early for the night.

The next morning, Reeves went to work as usual. A few hours into his shift, the party arrived with urgent news. Rico revealed his concerns about a recent jailbreak involving a female Goliath prisoner, fearing that it might distract him from his duties and put his family at risk. Understanding the gravity of the situation, Reeves agreed to investigate immediately.

At the prison, they learned that the walls had been breached from the inside using an explosive during a flash that lit up the sky. The guards offered a reward of 300 gold pieces for uncovering the method of escape and recapturing the prisoner, giving them an advance of 150 gold.

The investigation began at the prison, where the party discovered tracks of both the Goliath and a small lizard-like creature, but the trail went cold on the main road. However, Whisper found a curious red substance in the tracks, leading to speculation about its origin. Reeves suggested they investigate the source of the explosive, suspecting it might be traced back to Rico's neighbors, who are known for their black powder production.

Upon questioning the owner of the plant, the party learned that no materials had been stolen, but a skilled worker had recently stopped showing up, claiming illness. Concerned, Koro insisted on checking on the worker, hoping to heal her if needed, leaving the party with more questions than answers as they prepared for their next steps.
