AD&D Session 13 - Rexxentrum Arrivals and the Owlbear Quest

22nd of Brussendar 835 PD
On the 22nd of Brussendar 835 PD, the party arrived in Rexxentrum, immediately embarking on a quest to settle into the bustling city. After navigating through the city's gates, their journey led them to the trader and crafter district, where Serra and Rico sought their respective guilds, while the rest aimed to find suitable lodging. Their search led them to "Zum Angesägten Tischbein" Inn, which was dismissed due to its exorbitant prices. Venturing through a neglected district meant for the sick and unable, the party was disheartened by its poor condition and decided against finding accommodation there. Instead, they explored the nearest graveyard, where Koro unsuccessfully sought shelter at her church. However, a compassionate local priest offered his home to the group, with Rico and Serra returning to their guild work, and the others assisting the priest.
23rd of Brussendar 835 PD
The following day, on the 23rd, the group reunited at the leatherworker's guild where Serra was staying. They embarked on a city tour, particularly noting the inflated food prices in a larger market. A discussion about the impending war led Koro to voice her disapproval of the Empire, attracting attention from a merchant who sought the guards. Surprisingly, the guards delivered Koro an invitation to a noble's ball instead of the expected reprimand. After a day of disillusionment with the city, Koro proposed seeking an adventurer's quest, leading them to accept a task to hunt a beast terrorizing local cattle.
Venturing north, they engaged with a farmer whose fields had recently suffered. Investigation revealed signs of a large creature with significant claw marks breaking through a fence. Serra utilized a ritual taught by her father to communicate with a cow, gaining insights that pointed towards an owlbear as the culprit. The party deliberated on whether to track the beast immediately or prepare for an encounter at night, considering the absence of Rico who remained at his guild.
