A citadel of eldritch horrors

22nd of Fessuran, 835 PD

After setting up camp, Bibi confides in the group that the voices in her head have returned, seemingly originating from Ruidus, the ominous moon in the sky. Koro, concerned, presses their wizard companion for insights into the phenomenon. The wizard departs, teleporting home, likely to conduct further research.

The following morning, the wizard returns and shares what he has learned, providing Bibi with some answers regarding her warlock pact. After deliberation, the party resumes their journey.

The group finally discovers a more navigable path, leading them into a valley where an imposing citadel is carved into the stone walls. Moving cautiously toward its entrance, they push open its massive wooden doors and step into an eerie silence. Their exploration soon reveals giant corpses strewn throughout the halls, accompanied by an unsettling, faint buzzing noise. Some of the bodies display strange growths, unnatural and foreboding.

Continuing their search, they reach a vast dining hall, where Reeves catches a glimpse of a winged creature lurking in the shadows. With the ominous buzzing intensifying, the group retreats outside, seeking an alternative entrance where flying creatures won't have the advantage. Their search leads them to a balcony, granting access to what appears to be a workshop. More dead giants litter the area.

Peering into two adjacent rooms, they find another corpse with a grotesque growth. As they observe, the body begins to stir. Reeves swiftly shuts the door and calls for something to barricade it. The party manages to jam a metal rod into place, but the giant’s unnatural strength proves overwhelming. It forces the door open, bending the rod and jamming it in the process.

The horror escalates as the growth detaches from the giant’s body, phasing through the stone wall and emerging on their side—only to latch onto another nearby corpse, one large enough to reach them.
