AD&D Session 95 - Closing the Loop
28th of Duscar, 835 PD
With Whisper and Enikas having won the rigged final bout, the party moved quickly to claim the prize before the crowd’s excitement could collapse into worse chaos. In the owner’s office, they found the resident wizard furious over the failed scheme and openly complaining before storming out. The owner tried to turn the situation to his advantage by offering Whisper and Enikas a lucrative place as regular fighters, but Whisper dismissed the offer, making it clear he could not afford them. The party demanded the promised pixie, and the owner complied, handing over the captive locked inside a lantern. Before the exchange could turn into a longer conversation or reveal more than necessary, Marcus simply took the lantern and left, heading straight for House Mardoon.
Despite the late hour, Lady Mardoon was still available. The group returned the recovered pixie agent, completing the bargain that had drawn them into Shadycreek Run’s fight scene in the first place. With the immediate objective finished, they postponed the details of their travel arrangement until the following day.

Before leaving Shadycreek Run, the party took advantage of the town’s less reputable markets to acquire goods that might be harder to find elsewhere. Whisper purchased a bag of holding and several poisons, while Marcus inspected the local spell scroll trade. He was offered dunamantic magic, drawing clear disapproval from Koro, but none of the available scrolls proved worth copying.
The group then accepted House Mardoon’s promised transport and travelled by portal to Zadash. On arrival, however, the supposedly convenient passage immediately came with social obligations: they were forcefully invited to meet the owner of the establishment they had arrived in. After an elaborate introduction and an invitation to a card game, the party was finally permitted to leave.
Once in Zadash, Marcus went to investigate onward travel toward Rexxentrum. He found that conditions on the roads had worsened sharply in the weeks since he had last passed through. Merchant caravans now travelled heavily guarded, and transport costs had risen accordingly, with the price reflecting the need for armed protection. Rather than attach themselves to an expensive guarded caravan, the party chose the more direct option: rent horses and make their own way toward Rexxentrum.
