18th of Duscar, 835 PD

After resupplying in Uthodurn and trying to glean anything useful about routes and maps, the party used a portal to jump to the northern edge of the Savalirwood, committing to following the old lead that pointed them toward Molaesmyr. Together, Marcus, Koro, Whisper, and Bibi pushed south through the forest’s unnatural stillness. Keeping the Boreal Omen River as a guide, they followed its northern bank westward with extreme caution, hoping to reach the ruined city without blundering into whatever still haunts the wood.

The deeper they went, the more the Savalirwood’s everburning magical flames thickened until forward progress became untenable. Spotting a nearby river crossing—an old bridge with a broken span and multiple rough, improvised repairs—they chose not to risk it in its current state. Instead, they spent the time shoring up and reinforcing the patched sections so they’d have at least one reliable way across. With night approaching and no desire to camp within the densest reach of the flames, they withdrew to rest outside the worst of the burning perimeter.

Returning to the bridge by daylight, the group crossed into Molaesmyr’s ruins and began a careful initial survey. They headed first to the nearest plaza, hoping to find signs, landmarks, or anything that might quickly tell them what parts of the city remained navigable—or where danger was most concentrated. Finding nothing immediately decisive, they pressed toward the city centre, drawn by the presence of a looming central tower.

As they moved inward, they noted that the heart of the city seemed unusually dense with civic structures—buildings that read like a former administrative and public-services district, including a library, hospital, and barracks. Their first deliberate stop was the library: despite obvious ransacking and heavy damage, enough remained to suggest that not everything of value was stripped away, and that the ruins might still contain pockets of surviving record or lore worth extracting.
