In the wake of their exoneration, the party turned its attention back to the mystery of the stolen mithril dagger. Hoping for a lead, Marcus cast Locate Object, the faint arcane pulse pointing toward Uthodurn’s noble district—well beyond their current reach.

Undeterred, the group began asking around town about any stranger seeking a newly forged dagger of intricate design. Their inquiries revealed scattered details: someone matching that description—traveling alone, well-mannered, with striking purple eyes that suggested fey lineage—had recently purchased equipment for a long journey and presented a detailed blueprint to local smiths while asking after the finest forge in the city. Witnesses described the visitor as friendly and memorable, yet when Whisper and Zefran tried pressing their contacts for more, the usual web of informants suddenly went silent. Underground circles that had always traded rumors refused to speak, hinting that this unknown figure was protected—or feared. Gate guards confirmed seeing them enter the noble district, but none recalled their departure.

With no means of access past the noble ward’s checkpoints, the trail ran cold, and the companions set the matter aside for the moment.

The next morning the group decided to pursue a related thread: the legendary forge said to lie within the Cinderrest Sanctum, a smithy famed for melding steel and flame beneath volcanic vents. Taking advantage of a merchant’s request to deliver provisions to the same mountain settlement, they began preparations for the climb, ready to seek the forge that might hold both answers about the dagger’s creation and new mysteries within the fire-lit heart of the north.
