"Legends fade, but some refuse to be forgotten."

For over a thousand years, the Windren Isles stood between worlds, their fate tethered to two ancient Anchors. And for centuries, six individuals—each powerful, each deeply flawed—stood guard over that balance.

The Six were not rulers, nor gods, nor chosen heroes of prophecy. They were warriors, schemers, wanderers, and fools. Yet through their choices, their sacrifices, and their failures, they shaped the Isles as much as the deities above. Their story is one of vigilance and loss, triumph and tragedy—and in the end, they vanished, leaving only echoes behind.

Some still whisper their names. Others deny they ever existed. But their mark on the Isles remains.

The Six: Who They Were

Alenlokvor – The Silver Sentinel

"Duty is eternal. But purpose? That is something one must seek."

A silver dragon bound by honor, Alenlokvor (or simply Alen to those few he called friends) devoted his long existence to protecting the Guardian Twins across their many reincarnations. To him, the Anchors were more than keystones of magic—they were a promise made by a long-forgotten deity, and he refused to see that promise broken.

For centuries, he watched over Laphelia, his presence shifting with her many lives. Sometimes a mentor, sometimes a shadow, always a protector. He was calm, unreadable, and impossibly patient—until the day Alyra died.

In the aftermath of their final battle against the cult, grief and rage overtook him. He turned his sights on Skyreach, believing its ruling magocracy to have harbored the cult and allowed their rise. If not for the intervention of the player’s adventuring party, he may well have reduced the nation to ruin.

Instead, he flew away, disappearing into the skies. Some say he seeks a new purpose, others believe he lingers in the Astral Sea, awaiting a world where he might be needed again.

Alyra – The Unyielding Hand

"If I have to hold this spear for a thousand years, I will. Find a way to stop it."

Alyra was once just a monk, a disciplined warrior with little care for destiny or divine plans. That changed when she bonded with the dying essence of a silver dragon—Alen’s sister. It was not a gift. It was a burden that made her body stronger but her soul heavier, extending her life well beyond what a human should endure.

She was the one who stopped the spear during the first attack on Laphelia’s Anchor. While the rest of The Six failed to halt the cult’s ritual, Alyra stood alone, catching the blade in her hands, refusing to let it strike. But stopping it was not enough. Over the years, it inched forward, forcing her into a near-permanent trance, locked in battle against its inevitable force.

When the final battle came, the cult’s second assault shattered her focus. The spear struck true, obliterating her in an instant, taking the Anchor with her.

Yet, she was not entirely lost. As The Six mourned, an apparition of Alyra appeared before them—faint, distant, a final farewell. She had been saved by the Guardian Twins’ mother deity, taken beyond mortal reach.

She never sought to be a legend, but the Isles might yet remember her as one.

Fenik – The Lich Who Chose to Die

"If I had been better—if I had been faster—none of this would have happened."

Fenik was never meant to live this long. A gnome wizard who refused to die, he became a lich not for power, but for penance. When the cult first attacked, he believed he could stop the ritual, unravel their magic, undo their work before the spear launched. He was wrong.

Alyra paid the price for his failure, and Fenik never forgave himself. For centuries, he worked in seclusion, weaving layer upon layer of magic to hold the spear at bay, maintaining the seals on Laphelia’s Anchor. His body decayed, but his mind remained sharp, fixated on fixing what he had broken.

When the final battle ended, and his duty was finally over, he made a request. He retrieved his phylactery, placed it before Alen, and told the dragon to destroy it. Alen did not hesitate.

Thus ended the only lich who sought his own death.

Nylendra – The Wandering Heart

"I suppose it’s time to go, then. I’ll let the trees remember us."

A druid of immense power and impossible patience, Nylendra spent most of her time as an animal, roaming the Isles in various forms, forgetting where she had left her boots. She was whimsical, distracted, often absent when she was needed—until the moment she wasn’t.

It was her magic that kept Alyra alive for centuries, healing the wounds the spear left in her chest. It was her wisdom that often tempered the worst impulses of The Six.

When all was said and done, she did not seek grand monuments. Instead, she planted a grove over the ruins of Laphelia’s Anchor, a quiet, living tribute to her fallen friends.

Then she simply vanished, returning to wherever the wind took her next.

Tylli – The Laughing Shadow

"You can’t punish me if you can’t catch me. …Wait, can you?"

Tylli was many things—a rogue, a liar, a thief, and a demigod who probably shouldn’t have been on the Material Plane. But most of all, she was unapologetically herself.

She never outright stole from Mask. Rather, he let her take something, binding her to him in ways even she didn’t fully understand. She flouted Ao’s laws, bending the rules of divine influence while pretending she wasn’t.

By the time of the final battle, other deities had noticed. A punishment should have been inevitable, yet somehow, Mask and Tylli found a loophole.

When the dust settled, she was simply gone. Only a single holy symbol remained, marking her ascension as a lesser deity.

Some say she still lingers, watching, waiting—scheming.

Vella "Deathless" Kala-Agani – The Warrior Who Walked Out of the Afterlife

"Not this time. I’ve got someone waiting for me."

Vella died many times, and each time, he came back. Whether through Fenik’s magic or a deity’s meddling, he simply refused to stay dead.

But in the end, he knew the truth. When Fenik asked if he should remove the magic that bound him to life, Vella grinned and said:

"I think Alyra owes me a drink or two."

For the first time, he did not return.

Legacy

The Six are gone, but their stories remain. The grove still stands, silent and unmarked. Alen’s shadow still lingers, lost in the skies. The cult still plots, though weakened. And somewhere, in the hidden corners of the world, Tylli might still be laughing.
