The Windren Isles are a nation in the Trackless Sea west of Faerûn. The biggest island is Windren (often called "the mainland"), accompanied by a smaller island to the south called the the Broken South and many smaller islands in the surrounding area.
The landmass is believed to be artificially created by Windren themself sometime around -2000 DR. It is unclear who or what Windren was; the Followers of Windren believe them to be a long dead or silent god or god-like being, while scholars see them as a powerful magic user.
Due to the magical and/or divine nature of the isles, they are anchored in both the Material Plane and the Astral Sea and the same time. Travel to and from each plane is achieved through portals, some which are fixed, while others shift positions only appear sporadically. Fixed portals from both connecting planes are usually guarded by war ships and magical defences, while their traffic is heavily regulated by their respective nations.
