| After leaving Rexxentrum behind, the party continued south with caution. Rather than pass through the Amber Crossroads and risk another Imperial checkpoint, they chose a less direct route around it. Travelling through the Bromkiln Hills toward Daestok. The journey was largely uneventful, a welcome contrast to the scrutiny and danger they had recently escaped.

| Along the way, they briefly stopped near the Kamordah Vineyards, where the last of the harvest was being brought in by temporary workers. The party spent the night near the workers’ camp, taking the opportunity to socialise and gather local news and gossip before continuing on. Serene did not join them openly. Instead, she kept her distance throughout the journey, trailing the group from afar while making sure they remained within sight, evidently unwilling to trust them fully but unwilling to abandon the road to Daestok either.

| The party reached Daestok after nightfall. Entry into the town proved stranger and more difficult than expected. The nightwatch subjected them to unusual identification checks, and Bibi was nearly refused entry despite being a local. Eventually, the guards relented and allowed them inside.

| Daestok itself seemed markedly worse than when the party had last seen it during the events surrounding Delon Forebow’s funeral and the Truscan investigation. Many homes were shuttered or stood for sale, the streets were nearly empty, and those few people still out spoke in low voices and wary whispers. The town felt diminished, tense, and hollowed out by whatever had taken hold in the party’s absence. With little else to be done that late, the party returned to the same inn they had used during their earlier stay, bringing the old Daestok threads uncomfortably back into reach. | |

| In the morning, Koro suggested contacting her local Dynasty-linked allies, the same network the party had dealt with during their first investigations in Daestok. Fortunately, they were still active despite the town’s worsening condition. Through them, the party began learning what had happened since they had left, confirming that Daestok’s troubles had not faded with time but grown into something more entrenched.
