Adventurers greeted by their first sunrise in weeks

The party arrived at the remnants of an ancient underground city overrun by a mushroom colony. The decayed bodies of humanoids, bearing both weapon-inflicted wounds and fungal growths, littered the streets. While passing a large mushroom, Reeves offered a ration at its base, uncertain if it would be perceived as an offering. The mushrooms began releasing spores, prompting Reeves to cover his face with a damp cloth. Soon after, a colossal mushroom animated, communicating through the spores.

This leader revealed that the party's svirfneblin guide, Sniffles, was banned from the village due to a past incident. While the mushrooms guaranteed safe passage for the party, they insisted that Sniffles leave immediately. Koro opposed sending Sniffles away, citing a dark force pursuing him. After emotional deliberation, the guide was escorted safely out of the village by the mushrooms. The party pressed forward, eventually encountering yet another fork in the road, much to Reeves' growing frustration.

Continuing their journey, the group reached a natural stone bridge spanning a seemingly bottomless chasm. Voices in Undercommon were faintly heard from below, prompting the party to cross hastily. As they traversed, they heard something clawing its way up the chasm walls, spurring them to quicken their pace.

Signs of the surface appeared, marked by abandoned dwarven camps and natural light seeping into the tunnels. Upon emerging from the caverns, the party was greeted by a breathtaking sunrise on a plateau. Despite their newfound freedom, they returned to the last camp within the tunnels for a final rest, preparing to cross the swamp ahead toward Koro's homeland. With her knowledge of the region, Koro sketched a rough map of the area, highlighting paths leading to the main road or potential aid from patrols.
